This module discusses different sources of information, including where to find them and how to choose the best ones for your research.

 

This module covers::

bullet that library collections are located in buildings and on the Web
bullet periodical indexes
bullet popular and scholarly periodicals

This module focuses on skills for effective searching library databases and the Web, including choosing and combining terms.

bullet the types of information available in library databases
bullet how to select appropriate library databases
bullet searching databases using subject headings
bullet searching databases using keywords
bullet combining search terms effectively
bullet information available from a search engine
bullet selecting appropriate strategies for searching the Web

This module focuses on criteria for assessing the credibility of sources, as well as how to cite print and online information.

 		This module covers:
bullet locating items in the library using call numbers
bullet determining if the library has an article using a citation
bullet parts of a URL
bullet evaluating sources using the criteria discussed
bullet evaluating online sources using the criteria discussed
bullet avoiding plagiarism
bullet when to cite a source
bullet the different parts of a citation
