You can enjoy these videos from any PC and most mobile devices. Some can be viewed anytime within the checkout period, and others need to be viewed within a certain time frame after checkout. The Digital Rights Information box on the video details page provides this information.

Important: Streaming video may consume a lot of data! If you're on a mobile plan with a data cap, Overdrive recommends using a Wi-Fi connection when streaming on your mobile device to avoid data overages. Overdrive, which powers WVDELI, provides more streaming video tips in this article.

Happy 450th birthday, Shakespeare!

Wed, 04/23/2014 - 11:39 -- Kelly Bradish

Happy 450th birthday, William Shakespeare!

Shakespeare's birthday is typically observed on April 23. The playwright's actual birthdate is unknown, although it was sometime around this date in 1564.

His date of death is April 23, 1616, which means that, if the estimated birthdate is correct, Shakespeare died on his birthday.

In honor of The Bard, take a moment to learn a little more about Shakespeare:

>> Browse just a few of the items in our collection, including DVDs, on our Pinterest board.

>> Watch videos about The Bard and read more about his life on

>> Learn more about the playwright from the experts! Frequently asked questions about Shakespeare are answered by the Folger Library and also with short video clips by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
