Freegal: Music for studying, holidays and more

Reading, writing, group projects.... there's so much to do! How about some new background music for studying, or for your study breaks?

As due dates and finals approach, three free downloads a week from Freegal will come in handy!

If you're new to Freegal, these step-by-step instructions will help you get started.

From holiday music to new releases to old favorites, Freegal's collection includes a variety of artists. We've featured some on Pinterest, and the latest Freegal newsletter highlights new and recent releases as well.

 

Extended hours, snacks at the Library for finals

The Library has extended hours and snacks to help you get ready for finals!

We are open continuously during the week, but will be closing for a few hours during the weekends as follows:

  • Friday, Dec. 6: Close at midnight
  • Saturday, Dec. 7: Open at 7:30 AM, close at midnight
  • Sunday, Dec. 8: Open at 2 PM
  • Friday, Dec. 13: Close at midnight
  • Saturday, Dec. 14: Open at 7:30 AM, close at 4 PM

While you're studying, remember that we have coffee, hot cocoa, cookies and more to help you stay energized. We wish you the best on your projects, papers and exams!

Free meal at 4 p.m. today

Collection news: Films on Demand custom segments

filmFilms on Demand has announced several recently enhanced features, including:

Custom Segment Tool: This feature gives viewers the option to create their own segments. For instance, if you want to share only the middle and end of a segment, you can create your own segment including just those parts.

With this tool, you can identify the start and end times and provide a title and description for any title that is part of our collection. More information: Video tutorial | Article

Transcript Cross-Search: Previously, viewers could search individual transcripts. Now, all transcripts in the collection can be searched at once. More information: Article

Continuous Play: Check off the Continuous Play box on any View Video page to enjoy continuous playback from segment to segment.

Loop Playlist: Select the Loop Playlist option on any Playlist page to watch the full playlist on a continuous loop.

Library hours during Thanksgiving recess

The Library will operate on a modified schedule during Thanksgiving recess.

  • Friday, November 22: 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 23 - Sunday, November 24: Closed
  • Monday, November 25 - Wednesday, November 27: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 28 - Friday, November 29: Closed
  • Saturday, November 30: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Extended hours will begin on Sunday, Dec. 1, with the Library opening at 2 p.m. and remaining open until Friday, Dec. 6 at midnight.

International Education Week 2013

Join the campus community for a week-long celebration of international culture and diversity!

International Education Week (November 18-21) features several fun and educational events, like International Poetry Night, the Flag Raising Ceremony and the International Exhibition.

At the Library, we are highlighting a few of the international films that are available in our collection. You'll see a selection of them downstairs in the circulation area. Please feel free to browse and check out a film! You're also welcome to Ask Us for help if you are looking for a specific title.
