WVDELI news: Updates to notifications, searches

Thu, 08/28/2014 - 15:39 -- Kelly Bradish

Overdrive, which powers the WVDELI, has made some improvements we'd like to tell you about.

Hold notifications

Beginning this week, you'll now see a red notification on your Account and Holds pages when a title on hold is ready to be checked out. You'll still receive the notification email -- this is just another way to let you know your item is ready for checkout!

You can also automatically check out items on hold once they're available.

Mobile search filters

Users who access WVDELI through a phone or tablet might also notice that search filters have been moved to the top of the page in the Overdrive app. Hopefully, this will make it easier for you to use DELI and find new books, movies, and music to enjoy!

If you're not already, be sure to follow WVDELI on Facebook for more tips and tricks!

Borrow eBooks for free!

Tue, 08/26/2014 - 10:45 -- Kelly Bradish

We've seen lots of tablets, eReaders and mobile phones around the Library during the start of the semester! Make the most out of your device, and use it to borrow eBooks from the WVDELI!

We are happy to walk you through the steps of downloading eBooks. Please contact Kelly to set up a time to bring in your eReader, tablet or smartphone to review the process.

OverDrive, which powers the WVDELI, has some fantastic instructions available on their website as well. Get started with custom tutorials for your device.

Borrow an eReader

Students, faculty and staff can check out an eReader for two weeks. We encourage the campus community to participate and explore eReader technology! If you're thinking about buying an eReader, this is an opportunity to try before you buy!

Interested? You'll need to request an appointment for a brief setup session. Please complete this short online form. You'll then be contacted to arrange a meeting time.

Read from your browser

Many titles in the WVDELI can also be read in your computer's web browser - no special software or apps required! Find out more about OverDrive Read.

Device charging table moved to middle floor

Wed, 08/20/2014 - 09:44 -- Kelly Bradish

The Library's charging table is now located on the middle floor.

The table features these connection options:

  • Apple & older-style Apple
  • USB (for Android & other devices)
  • Electrical outlets (for laptops, your own USB cord, etc.)

As with all of your belongings, please do not leave your devices unattended. Library staff cannot watch your devices, and will not charge devices for you -- no exceptions!

Wed, 08/13/2014 - 12:56 -- Kelly Bradish

New students, you don't want to miss this! Stop by the Library from 12:30-3:30 PM Sunday for lots of Welcome Weekend fun!

In addition to food and music, we'll have a #beyourselfie station where you can take photos with fun props and share them with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! We’ll post shared pics, too.

Welcome Weekend participants will want to take note that the passport drop-off will be at the Library as well.

And how do free music downloads, ebooks and streaming movies sound?  We’ll give you the rundown at TechFest in the Hupp Skylab on the Library's top floor.

Here's the full Welcome Weekend schedule.
