Circulation Policies

Current Fairmont State ID required.

Due Dates

Books: Until the end of the current semester.
Videos: 7 days
CDs: 7 days

Renewals

Renewals as needed, in person or by phone, unless someone has requested the item. All faculty are required to return all materials to the library at the end of Spring semester for verification. Such items can be checked out again at that time.

Fines

Faculty are not currently charged fines.

Replacement of Materials

Users are charged the replacement cost of the item plus a $15.00 processing fee.

Book Drops

Located at the Circulation Desk and at main library entrance.
CDs and videos should be returned to the Circulation Desk only.
ALL RESERVE MATERIAL MUST BE RETURNED TO THE CIRCULATION DESK.

Fairmont State Mound Yearbooks are housed at the Circulation Department. These yearbooks are Library Use Only.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) assists Fairmont State students, faculty, and staff by obtaining library materials not available at our own libraries.

Electronic Reserves

Electronic Reserves allow you to place a variety of materials in a password-protected online environment for your students to access. Your paper or electronic documents are turned into PDF files that will be accessible from wherever your students have access to the Internet. If you have never used Electronic Reserves before, you will need to contact Thelma Hutchins, Director of Library Services at 367-4122 or thutchins@fairmontstate.edu to get an e-reserve faculty account created for you OR notify circulation personnel who will take the required information. Material Orders (Books, Videos, etc.)

Orders can be e-mailed or sent via inter-campus mail to Thelma Hutchins (thutchins@fairmontstate.edu), the library director. Books in Print and ChoiceReviews.online are two excellent databases for material selection.

Copying

* Black and White copying at $0.10 per page.
* Color copying at $0.25 per page.
* Copiers will accept transparencies and make double-sided copies.
* Copies from Microfiche/Microfilm at $0.10 per page.

Additional Black and White copying, as well as Color Copying, is available for Faculty, Staff and Students at the Copy Center located on the 3rd floor of the Falcon Center. (Tel: 367-4185)

Computer Software

The following computer software is available on the library computers:

*Internet Explorer
*Netscape
*Microsoft Word
*Microsoft Excel
*Microsoft Access
*Microsoft Front Page
*Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0
*Special software by school for specific courses.

To get to the special software:
1. click the START button in the lower left corner of the computer screen
2. click on "programs"
3. click on "Division Software"
4. select a division
5. select the software you need

Library computers will also allow you to run compact discs that may come with your course textbooks.

Fax Services

* To send a fax : $0.25 per page, excluding the cover page.
* To receive a fax : $0.25 per page, excluding the cover page.

Hold services

Requests can be made over the phone or via the on-line catalog for materials to be placed on “hold” for patrons to pick up. These items will be placed at the Circulation desk and you will be notified when your request is filled.

Floppy disk drives (external, USB) are available for Library Use Only checkout at the Circulation Desk.

Digital  Voice Recorders are available for semester loan checkout to students at the Circulation Desk.

There are four portable VCRs available for seven day loans. There is also a slide projector and an overhead projector available for one day. These items are available only to Faculty, Staff and Students.

Mail Services

A mailbox is located in the Circulation area. The mail is picked up at Noon Monday thru Friday.

Restrooms

Restrooms are available on all floors of the library.

Phone Services

A courtesy phone is available in the Circulation area for on-campus and local calls.

Note : Library Courtesy Phone cannot be used for calling cell phone numbers.

Cell phones must be turned off in the library, but can be used in the Circulation area or in the stairways.

The following items can be purchased at the Circulation desk:

CD-R disks - at current cost
CD-RW disks - at current cost
USB flash drive (pen drive) - at current cost
Transparencies - at current cost
Stamps - $0.44 each
