Please be courteous: Quiet zones in effect

Fri, 12/07/2012 - 12:53 -- Libstaff A

The home stretch is here! We hope your preparations for final exams and projects are going well!

We've heard from several students with concerns about the noise level, on the middle floor in particular. We are asking our patrons to be respectful of those studying or working on papers around the Library.

There is a general understanding that the top floor is a quiet area, but we've added some signs and explanations for all floors. Note that cell phone calls should take place in the stairwell or on the ground floor ONLY:

Quiet zone

We thank you for understanding and observing these quiet zones. If others in the Library are disturbing you, particularly late at night, please notify the staff at the main desk on the ground floor.

Thank you, Everlasting Covenant Church, for the pasta dinner!

We took some photos of a few students enjoying the meal, along with the volunteers serving it. As promised, here they are! If you'd like to post a thank-you comment to Everlasting Covenant, please do so below.

Thanks to our READ participants!

Sat, 12/01/2012 - 14:08 -- Kelly Bradish

Thanks to everyone who took part in the READ photo shoot! You'll get an e-mail when photos are ready for pickup.

Thanks also to all who helped by getting the word out, encouraging others to participate, and coordinating campus groups' involvement. We appreciate your efforts!! We also are grateful to those who gave up their usual study spots in our photo shoot location.

If you missed this session or want to participate again, don't worry - we'll do this again in the spring!

All about Lincoln

Wed, 11/21/2012 - 15:13 -- Kelly Bradish

Everyone's talking about Abraham Lincoln, now that the film Lincoln is in theaters.

(Don't know what we're talking about? Find out more about the film on the official website.)

Even if you're not a history buff, this is a great opportunity to learn more about our nation's 16th president.

In addition to several books and eBooks, we've gathered a few websites and other resources for you to browse on Pinterest:

If you do see the movie, let us know what you thought about it!

You're invited: Explore eReaders Nov. 27

Wed, 11/21/2012 - 15:11 -- Kelly Bradish

Thinking about getting (or asking for) an eReader? Try before you buy on Tuesday, November 27!

Anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., stop by the Hupp Skylab (Library top floor) and browse several kinds of eReaders and tablets.

Librarians Toru and Kelly will be on hand to answer questions and point you to more info about the devices you're interested in.

Plus, you can find out how to borrow a basic eReader from the Library, and eBooks from the WVDELI!

This is an informal event, open to the entire campus community. We hope you can take a few minutes and join us!
