AI Literacy: AI Research Tools

Your guide to AI concepts, basic skills, tools, and responsible use.

Choosing the Right Tool

AI tools will generate different outputs and some perform specific tasks better than others. This is because they utilize different datasets and models, train on different inputs, etc.

Disclaimers

  • It's important to consider the risks involved when creating a user account in general. Any time you create an account with a site, app, or program, you are granting them permission to access and retain your personal data, which may include your: date of birth, email address, passwords, IP address, credit card/bank account numbers, phone number, etc. Even well-established tech companies have had large-scale data breaches. If you choose to use any of the following AI tools, be aware of their Terms of Service agreements to understand what data they collect, how they use it, and who they share that data with.
  • These AI tools are compiled here because they are designed to be helpful and relevant to scholarly/enrichment activities. They are not officially approved or banned for use by Fairmont State University. Therefore, if you plan on using them for your schoolwork, it is your responsibility to seek approval from your professor first.
  • If you use AI in your work and it is analyzed by a plagiarism/AI detection software it will get flagged. This can happen even if you edit an AI output or use Grammarly to enhance the grammatical structure of your writing.
