The Marion County Genealogical Club maintains the genealogical reference department in the Marion County Public Library. Through the sale of publications, the club has been able to purchase materials from throughout West Virginia and surrounding states, including census records and vital statistics such as births, deaths, marriages, and cemetery records. County histories, general genealogical information, and volumes of family histories are also available.
The West Virginia Division of Culture and History's Archives and History website includes primary and secondary source documents, photographs, and databases; plus lists of collections and other materials available in the State Archives. Research guides and assistance for genealogists are also available.
