Community Health degree program at Fairmont State University: Dr. Leary's Bookshelf

Key information

My bookshelf includes casual books and books covering a variety of community/public health topics. I provide publisher links to the books but I highly recommend you search the library for free copies and other resources if you are purchasing (prices vary greatly on sites).

Since many of the books cover multiple topics, I recommend you read through all of the titles/descriptions. For some books, I have a different version than what is currently available.

You are welcome to stop by the office to review the books. Please let me know so I can make sure they are in the office (vs at home).  A few of the books have "walked off" over the years and I have not replaced them but still highly value the lessons they provided.

I welcome any suggestions for books you think others should consider.

Books used in CHEP courses (Currently or in the past)

Most CHEP courses require Open Educational Resources (OER) which are available for free or very low cost. Some courses use textbooks that are available through the campus library's free electronic system. Students wishing to purchase a print copy of OER or library-based textbooks should review the syllabus for information about purchasing print copies.

If you are planning to purchase any books from this list for use in class, please verify that you are getting the correct book and edition for the semester you are taking the course. You may also want to check the campus library's reserves to see if the textbook is available for 3-hour checkouts.
