Happy Spring from Office of Retention and Falcon Family Association!
Next week is the last week of classes of the 2016-17 academic year! Only a week and some positive final exams stand beteween freshmen becoming sophomores, sophomores--juniors, and juniors advancing to their senior year! Seniors now have their eye on graduation and I'm sure I speak for supporters of our graduating seniors that you can't wait for your student to walk across the stage!
Orientation season kicked off this month with incoming students and family members taking their first step into the Falcon family. Whether your student is an incoming freshmen or a graduating senior, we certainly recognize that the constant is you, the parents and family members. You send the reminders, coach and support them and together, celebrate their successes and help them through their challenges. For this we thank you!
If you student is a graduating senior, congratulations! Be sure to email us at retention@fairmontstate.edu to move your student to graduated list within the Falcon Family Association.
If your student has yet to register, encourage them not to wait to meet with their advisor and receive their PIN number to schedule their courses as all registration windows freshmen through senior have opened. It will be important for them to schedule for next term before leaving for summer break to ensure that they have an appropriate schedule. It is important to note that once summer break begins, faculty advisors (who possess the PIN critical to class registration) will in large part be off-campus and unavailable.
Inspired by a phrase the Career Development Center hears quite often this time of year (I’m freaking out…), they are hosting a “Senior-Freak Out” program with different workshops targeting seniors who for whatever reason, are not taking the next step in their professional life just yet. Above is a poster outlining those programs as well as the dates and times that correspond. Some of the dates have passed but Seniors are still encourage to visit the Career Development Center in Turley Center 222.
