In my history project I will be illustrating the most accomplished and best basketball players in Fairmont State's history. There have been countless of great players, however I am going to focus in on the 6 greatest players that have come through the program since 2000.
Let's start with a few stats about the program before we get into it. Fairmont State Basketball has produced 8 Professional athletes and 12 All-Americans. That is impressive to produce 8 professional athletes from the Division 2 level. From a team perspective Fairmont State has won 11 Conference championships, made it to the NCAA tournament 28 times, made it to 1 National Championship game, and have countless other accomplishments.
One thing to note: I will be doing 2000 - present due to the fact I cannot get images or video from years prior to that
Matt Bingaya was the National Player of the Year in 2017 and led his team to a national championship until falling short in the championship game. Matt will be featured in our top 10 greatest players.
Thomas Wimbush was a part of the Fairmont State Basketball program from 2014-2017. He was also a big help in leading the Falcons to their national championship until falling short in 2016. Thomas was an unbelievable athlete, from throwing down highlight dunks to scoring 20-30 points.
Dale was a two-time First Team All Conference. He was also First-team All-region his sophomore year. Dale will be featured in our top 10 greatest players ever to come through Fairmont State.
Although there have been countless of great athletes to come through this program. I will only be ranking the top 6 greatest players using data, accomplishments, and opinion.
