The completion of Hunt Haught Hall was in 1971. The building was named after Dr. George R. Hunt and Cleo D. Haught, who were retired members of the Division of Science. Both George Hunt and Cleo Haught were alumni from Tau Beta Iota Fraternity. This fraternity was founded at Fairmont State University. Many of their alumni have buildings at Fairmont State named after them.

Hunt Haught Hall is shaped in a honey-comb fashion to provide a maximum of exterior light and to utilize all available space. It is a four story, $3 million structure.
As Fairmont State University continued to grow, they had to update the Campus Master Plan. Hunt Haught Hall was one of the buildings that needed to be renovated to resolve existing conflicts with the Americans with Disabilities Act and to accommodate the Master Plan. During the Renovations they eliminated the pedestrian bridge and redesigned the monumental stairs and entrance doors. The renovation was completed in the Spring of 2008 and cost about $233,000.
This building includes classrooms, study rooms, faculty offices, labs, and even a green house.
