Before 2003 fairmonts version of the falcon center was only a dinning hall.
According to the mount in 1998 the dining hall experienced a fire that was put out without any harm besides those who had to relocate the dinning to the Turley Center ballroom. The kitchen was left destroyed sadly with not much left usable. “All foodstuff is ruined and will have to be replaced.” It all started thanks to a pan of chicken grease unattended.
As of 2002 Fairmont state created a vote for their students from April 8th-10th for the students approval for a rec center. Almost 700 students agreed with the project, according to the 2002 mound only one twelfth of students were opposed to its construction. The reason students were against its construction was due to their tuition going up in price from $90 to $110, sounds awful. Making me question what the hell happened to the tuition price over 21 years, why is it close to the price of WVU. Topic for another student to get amped about.
Kudos to the architecture firm that designed the center because they were the first to introduce a new look to the campus. Large steel frame structure with an attractive large open glass display at the front entrance reaching out into the open yard.
