In this project I will be discussing the kilns as well as the history of pottery here, such as when the first kilns were placed at Fairmont State University as well as the updates that have happened since then.
Pottery was first offered in the mid-late 1970's at Fairmont State University. The first kiln at Fairmont State was in 1975. The picture shows students examining results of the recent pottery firing in preparation for an art sale. The students could submit as many pieces as they wanted to but their work had to pass student and faculty review boards.
Since pottery has been offered at Fairmont State many kilns have been added or replaced. The most recent upgrades to the kilns occured in 2012.
